The Book Cover
Every book comes wrapped in a cover. This cover includes a front and back, also known as a front panel and back panel. A protective layer is often added to the cover in the form of laminate. This laminate can vary in finishes such as glossy, matte, soft-touch, or matt anti scratch lamination. Its primary function is to shield the cover from any potential damage during regular use. Additionally, machine varnish is an alternative option for finishing the cover. UV varnish can also be applied to the cover, dried with UV light on the press, and offered in both matte and glossy variations. It's worth noting that UV varnish can be fragile, so it's advisable to seek expert advice before application. Depending on whether it's a softcover or hardcover, the cover can be made of one- or two-sided coated sulphate board or greyboard with laminated paper for added durability.
